About an hour south of us lies Hoedspruit — the lively little heart of the lowveld, ringed by the Blyde River Canyon, wildlife centres and some genuinely good places to eat. It makes a wonderful day trip from Thula Moya, and it is also where many guests fly in (see our guide to getting here). Here are our favourite things to do in Hoedspruit.

On your way home
Heading back toward Phalaborwa, there are a couple of lovely stops to round off the day:
- The Thirsty Giraffe Grillhouse & WinebarA relaxed grill and wine bar to break the drive.
- Three BridgesOur pick — a restaurant overlooking the Olifants River where you may spot elephants, with shops to browse too.
You will want your own vehicle for the day, but if you would rather relax, our friends at Bushbaby Adventures can arrange guided tours, Blyde River cruises and transfers around Hoedspruit and the canyon. Get in touch and we will help you plan the perfect day out.
